Hello Everyone, Today is the day! Did you know? Well you do now! Guess what, today September 8th is our birthday! Kate's Kaptured turns two today. You might think to yourself "Hmmm... why is it our birthday? I don't run this business." and you would be right but you are also wrong. You are right I do edit, and take the photos and do all the other business things that I have to do but it would be really hard without you. Without an audience to share the work with, or people to help be in the content, or to inspire me, where would I be? Still stuck at square one. So where did we start? It All Started Way Back, Such A Long, Long Time BackSo back in August of 2014 I started my freshman year at Wells College. One of the first classes I took was a photography class. As I have said before I took several classes in high school so I had a good foundation for the class. I loved the workshop settings but there were photos that I would take that I didn't need for my assignments. While the photos I used in class were great I wanted to share the other photos I had taken as well. So Kate's Kaptured was born. I thought that the name was so cool back then. I thought I was so smart when I changed that one letter. As I continued in the class obviously the assignments became more and more complicated. One of my favorite assignments I did was with two close friends and then it lead to some random fun. Thanks again to Amelia and Steven for putting up with me that October day two years ago! So a few words on that project. We had to create a story using only images. My narrative was on the somber end of the spectrum. It was the story of two friends as one leaves for the military. After we finished taking photos Amelia and I wandered onto the green way to do some fun shots. This was my first official portrait session after starting up this blog so it was pretty cool. As The School Year Continued the Fun Never Stopped!2015 was the year I really got into Sports photography. From track meets to soccer games I took lots of pictures of people in motion. 2015 also lead to my first Senior Portrait session with the wonderful Christina. I'm glad that the first senior session I did was with a good friend. She let me goof around and try lots of different things as we navigated around Stony Brook state park. So here we are. In 2016, two years later. Look at all the stuff we did over the years? This year was full of adventures around Rochester and at Wells. It brought my second senior portrait session, prom, and Wells College graduation. I did my first targeted blog section dedicated to camp with weekly updates. I have an Instagram dedicated to the photos with almost 300 followers and there is a YouTube account dedicated to the videos I have taken. So what can we look forward to in the future? Well I have two different senior portrait session scheduled one a senior in high school, one a senior in college. Fingers crossed I will be accepted into a study abroad program in Bath, England. This space will have a travel section dedicated to the places I travel all over Europe.
I love you all! Thank you so much for the last two years. Katelyn Instagram: kateskaptured twitter: katekaptured Facebook: Kate's Kaptured Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJyWZ1Vw_5Bd-eYnzpk0k2A Email: [email protected]
